President/Chairperson:  Dr. Patrick G. Callaghan, Northwood University

Vice-President:  Dr. Roger P. Bober, The University of Phoenix

Roger Bober is Associate Campus College Chair, College of Education, for The University of Phoenix, Metro Detroit Campus and president of Leadership Capabilities - a limited liability consulting corporation designed to assist organizations in leveraging technology and integrated applications. He has served multi-campus community colleges for more than 30 years as a professor, department head, dean, deputy provost and chief academic officer.  Dr. Bober established Macomb Online in fall 1998 and led its growth in programs, courses, faculty and enrollment into the third largest online college among community colleges in the State in 2006.  Dr. Bober is also a certified online facilitator and currently teaches for a number of senior colleges and universities throughout the nation teaching graduate level courses in Business Administration and Higher Education.

Treasurer:  Dr. Edward D. Callaghan, Oakland Community College

Edward D. Callaghan received his Ph.D. degree from the University of Michigan, M.B.A. from Wayne State University, and B.S. degree from the University of Detroit. Dr. Callaghan serves as a board member for a variety of organizations, including Henry Ford Health System, Henry Ford Macomb Hospitals, Motor City Lyric Opera, Gilda’s Club, Metro Bureau Services, and Brother Rice High School. He is employed by Oakland Community College as a Business Faculty Member, after serving as President of Orchard Ridge Campus and as Vice Chancellor of Human Resources and College Communications. Dr. Callaghan also serves as an Arbitrator with the Michigan Employer Relations Commission.

Member-at-large:  Carl Weckerle, Macomb Community College

Mr. Weckerle currently serves as the Associate Director of Instructional Technology & Virtual Learning where he is focused on improving the educational standard of higher education in the areas of curriculum development, technology integration, eLearning and data-driven decision making. He has a strong interest in opportunities where instructional design and technology can improve organizational and learning effectiveness.

Mr. Weckerle began in Workforce Development at the College in 2004, where he had the opportunity to work with business, industry, state and federal government. He was instrumental in leading the State to develop the MIOSHA Training Institute in partnership with the College. Mr. Weckerle’s primary focus was instructional design and strategic initiatives and has delivered presentations nationally in those areas.

Mr. Weckerle received his Master of Education degree in Instructional Technology and his Bachelor of Science degree in Education, both from Wayne State University.

Member-at-large:  Dr. Terri Washburn, Walsh College

Dr. Terri Washburn, Assistant Vice President for Academic Administration, is presently the interim Dean for the Division of Online Learning for Walsh College, and also serves as interim Department Chair for the Bachelor of Science in Business Information Systems degree. She has been teaching online for ten years. Terri possesses a Master’s of Science in Management and a PhD in Organizations and Management. Her research area of interest is the rapid growth in online learning and its possible correlation with softer skills in the workplace.

Member-at-Large:  Celeste Henderlight, Specs Howard School of Media Arts

Celeste is a professional educator with experience in both academic and business environments. She designed award-winning training for General Motors while working for General Motors University, and managed GM strategy board-mandated courses throughout the US, Canada, and Mexico. She was instrumental in bringing eLearning to General Motors employees around the world.

Her strong interest in DL and using computers to teach began many years ago while volunteering her time at her children’s elementary school. She continually pursued her interests with more education in computers and instructional technology. She earned an MS degree in Computer Science at the University of Detroit Mercy, and is currently working on her PhD at Wayne State in Instructional Technology. When beginning her PhD program two years ago, Celeste designed the first DL courses for the Master’s program in Instructional Technology. She has completed a certificate program in DL through the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and has earned a Certificate of Knowledge for Online Teaching through the Career College Association. Celeste is currently an adjunct at Oakland Community College, Oakland University, and conducts onsite reviews for the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges.

Member-at-Large:  Dr. Beatrice Talpos, Wayne County Community College District

Beatrice Talpos received her Ph.D. from Walden University, her M.A. from the University of Detroit, and B.A. from the University of Detroit.  She is a full time faculty member in the Political Science Department at Wayne County Community College District and currently serves as chair of the Political Science and History Departments. She is one of the founding members of the WCCCD online initiative and for many years served as the mentor for new online instructors. Presently she is Chief Negotiator for the faculty union at WCCCD.

Member-at-Large:  Ms. Jan Feldbauer, Schoolcraft College

Jan Feldbauer has an MBA and B.S. Degree from the University of Detroit/Mercy and is a recipient of the NISOD Teaching Excellence Award.  Originally from the Detroit Metro area, she worked for 18+ years as Full Time Professor of Business Management and Marketing at Austin Community College in Austin TX.  She has also taught at Macomb Community College in Michigan, and is currently a Full Time Professor of Business at Schoolcraft College in Livonia.  

Her industrial background includes positions as: 

• Training Manager, Sperry Vickers, where she developed and presented over 20 programs for all levels of employees, with emphasis on managers, supervisors, and professionals at ten nationwide plant locations. She was instrumental in creating and managing Vickers Management Development and Communication programs.
• Production Control Specialist, Ford Motor Company, Tractor Division.
• Burroughs Corporation, Human Resources Specialist and Accounting Intern.

She has been a past Board Member of Reading is Fundamental and St. Michaels Development Board, and has served as Chair for Fundraisers with the National Paralysis Foundation.  She organized and supervised volunteers as the Austin Symphony Orchestra Manager for over 6 years.  She volunteers with the On Course Foundation, a London-based charity for rehabilitation and employment of disabled soldiers.  She is a talented glass artist whose work has been displayed in Central Texas Glass competitions.  She enjoys golf and pursues international interests through travel. She has visited more than 25 countries, often accompanied by student groups for international education and awareness.
