Board of Directors President/Chairperson: Dr. Patrick G. Callaghan, Northwood University Dr. Callaghan is currently the Online Lead Faculty member of Northwood University. He is also the President of HR Partners, Inc. a Bloomfield Hills, Michigan based Human Resources and technology consulting firm specializing in strategic planning, executive coaching, HR consulting services and technology aided instruction. Prior to joining HR Partners, he was the Director of Human Resources at AlixPartners, LLC where he established and implemented the human capital strategy for one of the most successful consulting firm in the world. Prior to AlixPartners he worked at Walsh College where he was the senior executive in charge of the Office of Online Learning. Dr. Callaghan is the former senior vice president of AT&T Capital Corporation, where he served as a strategic officer for ten years, directing corporate initiatives such as Competency Development, Succession Planning, Workforce Restructuring, and Human Performance Management. Dr. Callaghan has earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Management from Albion College, a Master of Arts degree in Human Resources from Central Michigan University, and a doctoral degree in Education, specializing in Instructional Technology, from Wayne State University. He has also attained the highest certification in the Human Resources profession – Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR). Vice-President: Dr. Roger P. Bober, The University of Phoenix Roger Bober is Associate Campus College Chair, College of Education, for The University of Phoenix, Metro Detroit Campus and president of Leadership Capabilities - a limited liability consulting corporation designed to assist organizations in leveraging technology and integrated applications. He has served multi-campus community colleges for more than 30 years as a professor, department head, dean, deputy provost and chief academic officer. Dr. Bober established Macomb Online in fall 1998 and led its growth in programs, courses, faculty and enrollment into the third largest online college among community colleges in the State in 2006. Dr. Bober is also a certified online facilitator and currently teaches for a number of senior colleges and universities throughout the nation teaching graduate level courses in Business Administration and Higher Education. Secretary: Treasurer: Dr. Edward D. Callaghan, Oakland Community College Edward D. Callaghan received his Ph.D. degree form teh University of Michigan, M.B.A. from Wayne State University, and B.S. degree from the University of Detroit. Dr. Callaghan serves as a board member for a variety of organizations, including Henry Ford Health System, Henfry Ford Macomb Hospitals, Motor City Lyric Opera, Gilda's Club, Metro Bureau Services, and Brother Rice High School. He is employed by Oakland Community College as a Business Faculty Member, after serving as President of Orchard Ridge Campus and as Vice Chancellor of Human Resources and College Communications. Dr. Callaghan also serves as an Arbitrator with the Michigan Employer Relations Commission. Member-at-large: Dr. Donald Amboyer, Macomb Community College Dr. Don Amboyer began diversified careers in criminal justice and higher education as a distance learner taking correspondence courses while serving overseas in the United States Air Force. He subsequently earned an Associate’s Degree from Genesee Community College and Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from State University of New York College at Buffalo. While a probation officer for the 16th Judicial Circuit Court of Michigan, he earned the Master of Correctional Administration Degree from University of Detroit-Mercy. While employed as the Macomb County Jail Administrator for nearly two decades, he earned a Master of Science in Criminal Justice and Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration from Wayne State University. Dr. Amboyer has taught graduate and undergraduate courses at Eastern Michigan University, Wayne State University, and Macomb Community College. From 1994 to 2006, he served as Dean of Continuing and Professional Education at Macomb Community College responsible for continuing education curricula delivered online and in traditional classrooms. Dr. Amboyer currently serves as Vice Provost for Learning Outreach focused on expanding e-Learning opportunities as all Macomb Community College programs are accredited by the Higher Learning Commission for online and hybrid delivery. He serves a variety of community-based organizations on boards and in other capacities as a consultant. Member-at-Large: Celeste Henderlight, Specs Howard School of Media Arts Celeste is a professional educator with experience in both academic and business environments. She designed award-winning training for General Motors while working for General Motors University, and managed GM strategy board-mandated courses throughout the US, Canada, and Mexico. She was instrumental in bringing eLearning to General Motors employees around the world. Her strong interest in DL and using computers to teach began many years ago while volunteering her time at her children's elementary school. She continually pursued her interests with more education in computers and instructional technology. She earned an MS degree in Computer Science at the University of Detroit Mercy, and is currently working on her PhD at Wayne State in Instructional Technology. When beginning her PhD program two years ago, Celeste designed the first DL courses for the Master's program in Instructional Technology. She is also completing a certificate program in DL through the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and has earned a Certificate of Knowledge for Online Teaching through the Career College Association. Celeste is currently the Director of Online Learning and Instructional Technology at the Specs Howard School of Media Arts. She is responsible for establishing standards and guidelines for quality online course design and instruction, and for meeting all guidelines established by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges. Her role includes training all personnel in distance learning methodologies, as well as overseeing the evaluation of all courses and instruction. She has recently been selected as a Distance Education Specialist for the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC). Member-at-Large: Tom Petz, Walsh College Tom Petz is responsible for the Office of Online Learning daily and strategic operations, overseeing a staff of instructional designers, student and faculty technical training and support; as well as research and development of new multimedia technologies for use in online courses. The College currently offers six degrees and more than 80 course sections online. Mr. Petz has presented on such e-learning topics as technologies for promoting critical thinking online and rapid development processes applied to online course development. Mr. Petz joined the Walsh College Office of Online Learning in 2003 as a media specialist after working for a local Internet company. He holds a bachelor of science in computer science from Wayne State University and a Master of Science in Information Assurance from Walsh College. He is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP). Member-at-Large: Dr. Beatrice Talpos, Wayne County Community College District Beatrice Talpos received her Ph.D. from Walden University, her M.A. from the University of Detroit, and B.A. from the University of Detroit. She is a full time faculty member in the Political Science Department at Wayne County Community College District and currently serves as chair of the Political Science and History Departments. She is one of the founding members of the WCCCD online initiative and for many years served as the mentor for new online instructors. Presently she is Chief Negotiator for the faculty union at WCCCD.
